These are words that most of us are used to saying, We say it when
we have been invited to someone's home for dinner; when there is a
politician we would like to see elected; when there is an event at our
children's school we would like to be a part of; and yes, even when
there is a fundraiser for an organization we feel strongly about an
want to support.
Spirited Sister, Inc. has an amazing array of talented, creative,
and heart-full customers and Friends who have devised all sorts of ways
to get out garments into the hands of people who could truly use them.
I am pleased to name names and congratulate individuals and
organizations who believe in the concept of mind, body, spirit in
healing and recovery. Our Healing Threads are doing what they are
designed to do: provide people with dignity and modesty when they most
need it.
We hope these examples will come to mind and inspire other ideas when someone asks. "How Can I Help?"
1.) Oklahoma medical establishment wrote a grant to Susan G. Komen
Foundation and obtained money to purchase Healing Threads at wholesale
cost to give to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
2.) West Virginia medical establishment held a golf tournament. The
proceeds were earmarked to purchase Original Healing Threads to give to
newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
3.) Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT purchased Original Healing
Threads to include in their designed "Mastectomy Bags" which are
given to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
4.) Allison Aron, of New York City is running in the NYC Marathon
November 3, 2008. She is running in honor of her good friend Claire E.
Goodhue, who died in January, 2006 of colon cancer. Allison and Claire
were good friends when they both worked at Miller Freeman, In lieu of
money donations, Allison asked all her supporters to order Original
Healing Threads from the website, www.healingthreads.com.
Each one ordered is to be donated to someone going through cancer
treatments, necessitating numerous trips back and forth to
medical sites. Healing Threads are putting aside these garments and
will be delivering them to the American Cancer Society in Brockton,
MA for distribution. Through her creativity and love for Claire she is
a.) making a difference in many ill people's lives; b.) helping
the company Spirited Sisters, Inc which Claire helped before her
death.; and c.) contributing to the profit of Spirited Sister, Inc.
which donates 3% of any profits to a soon-to-be-started foundation that
will help single moms with life threatening issues.
